Bienvenidos, I am a native of Fort Worth, Texas and I have a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of North Texas. Graduating with a 4.0 in my major, I have always loved helping others perfect their accent and understanding of the Spanish language. I am fluent in Spanish, and although not a native speaker I believe I have a more in depth knowledge of grammar suitable for an English speaker acquiring Spanish. This gives me an advantage in teaching non-native speakers with the concepts typically lost in translation. I have been tutoring since 2010 and have high success rates with students actively taking a Spanish course, although enrollment in a class is not necessary to succeed with my teaching methods. I have primarily taught college students in beginning and intermediate Spanish courses, but I offer services to high school students and non-enrolled adults. My usual tutoring sessions are goal based when the student is actively taking a course. We typically complete their homework together and prepare for tests. In addition, I will elaborate on the concepts discussed in class and provide supplemental interactive Spanish techniques to perfect accent, writing, and comprehension. If student is not in a class, we will construct a basic program that will imitate a course structure they are comfortable with based are their pace of learning. I believe in order to master a language one must immerse oneself in the desired language and culture and utilize four learning techniques we are all familiar with: reading in the language, writing, listening, and of course speaking! I will provide additional lesson plans individually tailored to my student's needs and also work on current coursework if needed. In the past my typical sessions last an hour to 2 hours depending on the needs of the student. I am also available for quick questions via email, although not intense questions normally requiring a full tutoring session. Learning a new language can be daunting, but as a former student at the AIP language Institute in Valencia, Spain I am confident with the correct attitude and passion for the language, anyone can become fluent. I have a 24 hr cancellation policy and prefer for the initial session to be in a public place, such as a local library. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from UNT as well as advanced certification from the AIP language Institute in Valencia, Spain. I look forward to helping you succeed in learning Spanish, improving your grade, completing a current course, or prepare you for a trip abroad.
