Education

I am a junior studying computer science at the University of North Texas. I have experience programming in C and C++, and I have completed various projects using these programming languages. I am also getting a minor in mathematics. I started tutoring my friends while I was a freshman in high school whenever they would need help with their math or science classes. Since then, I have tutored friends every semester in subjects ranging from algebra and introduction computer science classes to calculus 2 and mechanics in physics. My current job is as a peer mentor for the computer science and engineering department at my university. During this job, I assist students in various computer science classes to understand concepts. I also help them write their programs by showing them through the though process and guiding them towards solutions. My favorite part of tutoring and teaching individuals is the moment when I can tell that the person understands it. This is because I know when I finally get something that I had been struggling with, it’s like a wall has been removed from right in front of me, and suddenly I can see things in a new way, and I can relate to other concepts as well. So, when I see this look on other people’s faces, I am happy that I got to be a part of them understanding and doing well in a subject that they might not like too much.

Experience

Current job as a peer mentor for computer science: I help students out with programs SAT scores: 620 reading, 720 math, 750 writing AP scores: 5 on Calculus AB, 4 on Computer Science A, 4 on Statistics, 4 on Physics B I want to be a tutor because I love to help people with subjects that they don't understand. I love it when the moment comes when the person goes from confused to understanding the uses of the subject. It's indescribable. I have taken math up through linear algebra, and I've taken computer science courses where I learned to code in c and c++. I've also taken physics in college. I've gotten A's in all of my college courses.
