Experience
I earned a B.A. in European History at the University of North Texas. My minor was in Latin language. It was in my last semester that I got started as a Latin tutor for students who were in year one and year two, and I also helped these same students as a teaching assistant. I have a real passion for tutoring students who are learning Latin, and I fully grasp that I need to try various teaching methodologies to accommodate different students. This is important because no two students are the same.I want to do my part to ensure that classical studies remain alive and well going forward, and tutoring helps me to do this...one student at a time. I also realize that assisting people with Latin gives them a greater grasp of English, which is obviously important for everyday tasks like writing, reading, and colloquial speech.Since earning my undergraduate degree, I not only have studied ancient Greek and Latin, but also have looked into various teaching methods to transmit the vast knowledge I have to my students. When not working, I like to read, play guitar, and do book binding. These sorts of activities help me to clear my head and to stay sharp when tutoring or mentoring.
