I earned my undergraduate degree in English from the University of North Texas. After graduation I became a language arts teacher and working with students to help them gain confidence and express themselves more effectively is my passion. With experience I have learned that learning occurs best when students feel safe and comfortable in an environment where they are engaged and respected. I make it a priority to ensure each of my students feels free to use their voice and knows that their opinions are welcomed. I firmly believe that no student should ever feel afraid or ashamed to share their opinion. Most of the subjects I tutor are related to helping students cultivate their own voice. I currently tutor reading, writing, essay editing, phonics, literature, English grammar and syntax, IB extended essay, public speaking, English, and comparative literature. I believe it is important to learn as much as possible about each of my students. When I know what their hobbies, interests, and fears are it is far easier to create compelling content that will help them master the academic lesson and also foster a love of learning within them. The end goal is never a specific score on an exam, it is always to make a meaningful difference in the life of the student and help them get one step closer to achieving their personal ambitions.
